The Wedding With Seven Skies

That afternoon, seven window displays showed greetings from the highway communities. Beyond them, through the real habitat windows, Saturn’s rings shone in soft gold. Inside were paper stars, ordinary lamps and places to sit comfortably.

Every borrowed light had gone home. The festival used its own supplies. The violet station’s gathering continued happily far away, and its no remained accepted.

Lumi joined on a window link from Sunflower Station. The little lamp in the welcome room glowed beside the repaired map.

“Will the friendship finish when the festival finishes?” Lumi asked.

Pip had been wondering something similar. Their great mystery was solved. The purple envelopes had addresses, the trolley had a job, and the clock no longer waited forever at 07:07.

“I’m glad we fixed it,” he said. “But I will miss looking for clues together.”

Dandy sat beside the screen. “Things can change without becoming less important. We can make a plan for ordinary days as well as parties.”

Kala opened the shared calendar. The maintenance team had regular work at Sunflower, with trained cover when someone rested or visited another station. Noor planned a workshop morning. Families could accept invitations, suggest another time or stay home.

Zuri offered a garden drawing session. Pip offered story postcards. They chose a comfortable first date with the adults, rather than promising to be available every day.

“And quiet visits?” Lumi asked.

“Those count too,” Mira said.

Lumi saved the plan. There was room for friends, work and time alone. Nobody needed an enormous celebration to prove they belonged.

When the wedding began, some guests came to listen. Others stayed in the garden, watched quietly on a chosen link or enjoyed their own family activities. Everyone remained welcome at the festival.

Kala stood with Dandy and Mira. She asked each of them whether they freely wanted to make their promises.

“I do,” Mira said.

“I do,” Dandy answered.

Mira promised to share decisions, to listen and to make room for their lives as well as their work. Dandy promised the same. Their words were simple enough for Pip to understand and important enough for the adults to say slowly.

They exchanged rings. Ivo held the small tray extremely steadily.

“Rings remain rings,” he whispered.

Pip grinned. His auntie’s earlier wedding and this wedding were different celebrations. Both had room for the people involved to choose what mattered to them.

Afterward, the festival continued with music, stories, garden visits and rest. Lumi kept the link open for the parts Lumi enjoyed, then chose a quiet evening at home.

The next morning, the calendar showed a new date. Tomorrow had arrived. Nothing had been borrowed again without permission.

A garden postcard lay beside Zuri’s breakfast. It asked for a design pointing in every direction. She smiled, and Pip began an ordinary, hopeful drawing.

“So, is the highway finished?” Pip asked.

“Today’s repairs are,” Mira said.

“And tomorrow?” asked Zuri.

Dandy looked around the table at his friends. “Tomorrow, we ask where everyone wants to go.”
